Region : Piedmont soils are composed of marl covered by layers of clay, sand and gravel. The soil containing a high proportion of sand is warm and well-drained and helps to obtain optimum ripening of the grapes.

The specific characteristic of the Monferrato and Langhe area is to have a calcareous soil and this, together with a good exposure of the vineyards and a not intensive density of planting, leads to a wine that strictly reflects the characteristics of the soil in which the vines grow.
